secretary of sports pardons juanma lopez; he can ... - Boxing News

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO- Former two time world champion Juan Manuel ?Juanma? Lopez will fight soon after the Secretary of Sports and Recreation of Puerto Rico, Henry Neumann, pardon his one year suspension.

?Juanma Lopez can continue his career starting today?, Neumann said. ?Practically, this is a pardon from the Secretary (of Sports) taking into consideration Juanma?s career in amateur and professional. Juanma has been an example, serving his community work and adding the forgiveness of the referees Roberto Ramirez Sr. and Jr.?.

Lopez was suspended one year by the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission after bad comments he made about the Ramirez?s after his defeat by TKO against Orlando Salido on March, 12, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

?I want to thank Neumann, the Puerto Rico Boxing commission, my promoters Top Rank and PR Best Boxing Promotions and my team, but also I want to thank Roberto Ramirez Jr. and Sr. for their forgiveness, and I want to tell them that I learned a lot from this experience?, Lopez said. ?I feel so good because I can fight again and continue my career. This is my sport, but is my job too?.

Lopez (31-2, 28 KOs), who is ranked #5 in the featherweights on the WBO?s November rankings, has been training hard with Orlando Pi?ero and Alex Caraballo in Caguas, and with his new addition Freddie Trinidad, emphasizing the defensive work, at the Caimito Gym.

?We are working hard, training and training for my return to the ring. I saw in the press about a fight for January 19 against (Wilfredo) Papito Vazquez, well if we reach agreements, the weight and everything, we fight against Vazquez or anybody?, Lopez said. I?m willing to fight anybody?.
