I am 2 weeks out from listing my house with the intention of buying "up" in our same neighborhood. Because we have the smallest floor plan in the neighborhood, we wanted to sell first prior to buying thinking it would be a hard sell. When we made this decision 2 months ago, the market was plentiful. Now that we are ready to list, there are very few homes available. A house similar to ours sold within a few days of hitting the market, so our assumptions may be wrong afterall. Our listing agent lists a majority of homes in our neighborhood. We selected them to sell because they do a terrific job marketing. We selected a different agency to represent us as buyers, thinking the odds were that would probably end up purchasing from our listing agent.
Would it be inappropriate to ask our listing agent to see some of their homes coming onto the market, before they are listed even if they don't represent us as buyers? They have been very easy to work with so far and I would hate to ask something of them that is simply not done and put a damper on a good thing.?
